Thrillers use the theme of solitude with the setting, this emphasises the significance of the main characters as there are not many people around, as well as creating suspense and tension.

Weather motifs - clouds, grey sky, dark night, lightning, thunder and a full moon. Strong weather contrasts I.e. sunny sky to mislead the audience into a sense of safety and calm, wildly contrasted to a dark eerie night to create uneasiness and anticipation for the viewer.
