5) How did you attract/address your audience?
I established that the target audience, for my preliminary task would be aged 20 and above, and the majority of this audience would be male. To meet the expectations of the audience I had to create a film that would be suitable for this audience in terms of presentation in addition to narrative.
The camera angles and effects used in the scene would be recognised by an older audience. Following the brief, I used the 180 degree to present the passing of time in my preliminary. The special effects used would appeal to an audience who are interested in crime or action thrillers.
The genre of my preliminary is a crime thriller, and so in order to attract my audience, I had use an appropriate setting which could be viewed as a realistic interrogation room. I decided to use a simplistic approach when choosing the location of my film, by using a room with plain black walls.

I created the scene by placing a table in the centre of the room with two chairs on opposite sides of the table. I also used a white spotlight during filming to bring the focus onto the narrative. The reason I chose this set was in order for the audience to immediately recognise the genre. The isolation of the characters and their positioning should automatically suggest an interrogation scene.
Television programmes such as '24', base their plots on the changing of time, this may be due to the excitement which is associated with limited time. The show has a similar audience to my preliminary’s audience. The common viewers for the show are males over the age of 20, and so based on this information, the emphasis on time in my preliminary suggests a hectic and action-packed atmosphere, which I used to appeal to my target audience.
