Inspiration

Dawn of the Dead:

Viewing the use of quick shots in the film, and the cutting between images and credits, I want to create a similar effect in my opening sequence.  Moreover, the colour red is common in horror thrillers as it represents blood and gore. My main task is a psychological thriller with themes of horror, and therefore a red font for my titles would be appropriate.

The Negotiator:
The colour of the images in the opening sequence presents a daunting tone. Blue is typically representative of melancholy and morose, therefore I will incorporate blue tones into my filming to present either a dismal or sadistic character.

Blairwitch project:
I find the filming method in the Blairwitch project to be a point of interest, particularly when one of the characters is speaking directly to the camera as if she were filming it herself. I may incorporate this into my main task as I find the idea of the character speaking to the camera to be a successful method of capturing the audience’s attention. By addressing the audience they may feel a greater emotion towards the character whether that be sympathy or fear.

Other media forms:
As I want to include images into my opening sequence, I looked at different forms of media that I could use to influence these images. Photography being the obvious option, I decided to base the presentation of my images on crime scene photography. As my story line is based on the killing of young females, this seemed to be a suitable form of presentations. Therefore, when presenting my images I will include a flash beforehand to seem as if they were taken at that moment, I will also include the theme of death on my photographs to coincide with the portrayal of a crime scene photograph.
