5) How did you attract/address your audience?
My main task is shown as a video diary of a young girl who has been kidnapped and is unaware of her surroundings. This method of filming presents ‘Sacrifice’ in a documentary format. This may attract viewers of films such as paranormal activity as this is a film which is constructed to show ordinary people in eerie and unusual situations.
Effects are used to amaze and attract the audience.
The scene uses effects to present a ghost-like image, following the conventions of thriller; the dark surroundings isolate the character and elucidate the eccentric depiction of the character's mind; the darkness may also lead the audience into a sense of wonder. To attract an audience outside the restricted preferences for psychological and horror thrillers, I used this effect to also appeal to an audience who have an interest in supernatural thrillers.
The consistent use of close up shots, allows the audience to recognise the films format, camera angles are used to attract an audience, as the shots used can be easily recognised as a self-filming angles. The incorporation of long shots, give the audience a greater understanding of the surroundings however the focus on the character's shoes presents the character as a point of interest. The audience would be captured in the film by the need to discover the identity of the mystery character.
