Positioning:
The angle of the writing is used to suggest motion of the text as well as reflect the title; as the words begin to rise at the end of the text, this change in level indicates a northward motion. Furthermore, the arrow placed in the text are used to match the stated directions, i.e. on the word ‘North’ there is an upward arrow continuing from the ‘N’ to reflect the specified direction.
Lighting/colour:
Bass uses unusual colours for a thriller; the generic colours for a thriller would be dark tones or the odd splash of bright colours to catch the audience’s attention. However, Bass uses colours such as medium green and blue to suggest the idea of other themes and genres.
Lighting of the outside shows dark scenery. The establishing shot of the opening indicates it is very late in the day or evening.
Camera angle:
Low angle shots generally depict vulnerability however this establishing shot wide low angle shot fully displays the scene of the film. This is to introduce the audience to the storyline.

Camera Movement:
Panning to establish scene.
Sound:
Bass uses quite playful non-diegetic music, the fast pace music reflects the fast pace of the scene.
The overall audio for the opening paints the era it was created as there is minimal use of technology in the sound. The music used is common of the epoch as it uses dramatic instruments such as violins and focuses on what mood the sound portrays through the use of dynamics and musical techniques. Unlike a modern opening which would add to the ambiance of the film through the use of enhanced digitalised sound effects as well as music.
