Crime thrillers are a hybrid of the crime and thriller genres, which focuses on specific crimes (failed or successful). The main character of this genre is usually the criminal/suspect; however other protagonists may include victims or policemen. Crime thrillers can often be seen as action/ psychological thrillers as they may include conventions of these genres.
Much like action thrillers, crime thrillers are more likely to appeal to a male audience rather than female however the viewer is more likely to be in an older age group (30-50) as there are more likely to have issues more relatable to this age group.
The opening scene of this Hindi crime thriller (99.5 FM) uses dim lighting and the use of contrast between the lighted room and dark outside to depict the genre.
