Wide-shots are often used in action thrillers; by using a wide-shot camera angle the audience can view large spaces thus emphasising the impact of the action.

This subgenre would be mostly viewed by a young audience (13-25); this may be because action thrillers are generally loud, graphic and contain violence which is more likely to attract a young male audience rather than female because of these traits. Action thrillers are usually associated with the use of weapons and physical violence in addition to fast pace action such as running or driving. Furthermore most of the viewers are likely to be students in either university or school/college.​
