5) How did you attract/address your audience?
Akin to the theme tune of the legal drama ‘Law and order’, the sound in my preliminary uses moments of calm and brief moments of impact to create suspense and tension. The similarity in the non-diegetic sound used in my preliminary and the theme tune of law and order was to appeal to this type of audience. The use of audio would allow the audience to associate the film with the crime thriller genre. I used sound to appeal to an audience who have a preference for narratives based on the theme of crime and the law.
The storyline is a topic of interest as it is an essential factor in attracting an audience. ‘The strange case of Amanda Deign’ the plot focuses on the disappearance of a young girl, which is a common basis for a storyline. The ordinariness of the plot would allow the audience to have a brief idea of what to expect, However, I used the titling of my film to attract the audience, and also establish the film as a thriller. ‘The strange case’ the words used in my title suggests an unusual plot , the reason for this is so that the film would meet the expectations of my audience, but also shock them.
To expand my target audience I used a mixture of stereotypical and non-traditional characters. The female detective would allow my film to appeal to a female audience as this would allow the film to be more relatable to this social group.

Furthermore, the combinations of ethnicities in the film would attract audiences from different cultural backgrounds due to the inclusion of a minority in the film. However, as my characters are of a mature age, it would be harder to appeal to younger audiences as the themes and characters would not be easily understandable.
