For the title of my film, the word 'sacrifice' is introduced by animated flames. As fire often has religious connotations this effect was used to establish the theme of cultism in my piece.
The visual and the sound abruptly come to an end, and the audience are presented with a black screen. This is to lure the audience in a false sense of calm and security which is then cut short by the surprising appearance of the young female character
As my film is presented as a video diary I added a rewinding effect. This was done by placing a rewinding symbol in the corner of the screen and editing the video so that the clip would play in reverse. I also manipulated the speed of the clip so that the effect would mirror a real recorded video.
In a scene of my thriller I included two clips of young girls being attacked. The clips were shown whilst the young female character was speaking and were used to emphasise the dialogue. During the scene , the girl is warning the audience of a group of people who are capturing young girls, and so the audience are engaged verbally as well as visually.
